Peel Regional Police are searching for Alyssa Langille, 15, who they believe was abducted in Mississauga, Ont., on Sunday afternoon.
CBC News has learned police are now following up on information provided by Langille’s family regarding her possible whereabouts.
An Amber Alert issued early Monday morning is still in effect.
Langille is described as white, five-foot-two, with shoulder-length blond hair in a ponytail, and blue eyes. She was wearing a black sweater, grey sweat pants, and black-and-red Air Jordan running shoes.
A witness told police that a grey or silver van came to an abrupt stop in the area of St. Barbara Boulevard and Comiskey Crescent in the north end of Mississauga at 1:25 p.m. ET Sunday.
The van is described as an older model Honda Odyssey with tinted rear windows.
Police said the witness said she saw two males emerge from the van and force a female into the vehicle. The van was last seen travelling southbound on Saint Barbara Boulevard towards Derry Road West.
