Oshawa residents warned to beware after report of phoney fire official visiting home.
Oshawa Fire officials have issued a warning to residents after a report of a person trying to gain entry to a home while posing as a representative of the department.
A resident reported March 1 that someone claiming to represent Oshawa Fire Services had asked to enter a home to check on carbon monoxide alarms, the service said.
The service has issued a reminder that it does not partner with private companies to conduct such visits.
“Oshawa Fire Services are always in fire services uniform when delivering fire prevention and public education programs to the community, including the door-to-door Alarmed for Life program from May to October,” the service said in a statement.
The incident has been reported to police. Residents are encouraged to report similar incidents at 905-5790-1520.
